A grotesque but fascinating account. Years ago, a book called “The Passover Plot” advanced a theory that Joseph of Aramathea was involved in an elaborate plot to rescue Jesus while he was still alive (but unconscious) and “bury” him in a cave where he could recover so that he could emerge “resurrected” to his disciples — before he died of the wound in his side. Nothing in your account refutes this theory.
