A skillfully developed extended metaphor for our collective plight. Thank you for posting this; metaphors are a great way to help people understand complex realities that are generally too big and too scary to grasp. But two things are missing from your “train rushing toward a cliff”: an escape hatch and/or an emergency brake. Does anyone have any ideas what might serve either of these purposes? At the moment, I don’t, and we might simply be out of luck.
