Actually, we agree entirely. The Jungian "shadow" is culturally specific. Every culture, our own included, has its dark side--its potential for fanatical tribal passions to be magnetized by a malignantly charismatic demagogue (e.g. Napoleon, Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Trump, Putin. Bolsonaro, et al.) in ways that wreak horror and bloodshed on their own people, on ethnic minorities, and on those they seek to conquer.

I hope you are right that our own constitutional democracy is still strong enough to withstand the vile allure our own, home-grown malignant demagogue, Trump.
