After visiting the Mormon Visitor's Center in Salt Lake City with my parents back in the '70s, where we heard a tour guide give us the whole Mormon spiel, about Joe Smith and the Angel Moroni and the Golden Tablets, et al, my impeccably courteous mother, who listened politely to everything he said, waited until we were on our way back to the car that evening, and then suddenly stopped, put her hands on her hips, and declared, "WHAT A BUNCH OF BALDERDASH!!" My sentiments exactly, not only for Mormonism, but for Christianity as a whole, and all other religious ideologies--including Islam and Judaism--where one's "salvation" is claimed to depend on one's belief in a set of question-begging propositions about an imaginary tribal deity who at the same time, is claimed to be sole creator and ruler of the universe, but who redeems or condemns us afte death solely on whether or not we are "his" people--i.e. Jews, Christians, Muslims, or whatever. To all of which, I say "BALDERDASH!" Thanks, Mom!
