All this being as it is, if we continue to listen to our human brains and all their mental formations, (as I do far too often), we will just wallow in misery and despair. Conversely, if we stop thinking now and then (by simply following our breath) and observe what is happening in the present moment, acknowledging the impermanence of absolutely everything but treasuring it nonetheless, and LET GO (repeatedly) to attachment to wishing-things-were-other-than-they-are, simply abiding in the present moment, we can still enjoy life while it lasts, and--with luck--surrender to impermanence when the time comes.
