All wars are resource wars. This is well known. But your attempts to blame the West and exonerate Putin are hogwash. The modern boundaries of Ukraine were drawn by Ukrainian-born Nikita Khrushchev, and—like any national boundaries on the planet, the result was ethnic enclaves that had more loyalty to a neighboring nation than to the one in which they find themselves. But once a border is established by international agreement (the UN), they can only be changed by negotiation, not violence. Otherwise, international peace is impossible. So the blame for this bloody war falls squarely on Russia.
