An astute analysis, from the standpoint of Jungian social psychology, of our current predicament: Trump is the avatar of America’s “shadow,” as Hitler was for Germany and Stalin for Russia; the monster within, or the “rough beast” slouching towards Bethlehem. In these dire times of social and ecological collapse, our best bet, in my view, is to grow gardens (to feed ourselves and each other), grow community (to build local resilience and solidarity) and to grow awareness (of the growing chaos all around us) in order to survive and co-create a culture that is symbiotic with, rather than parasitic upon, our sacred living planet.
