An excellent, disturbing assessment of late-stage capitalism and its boundless self-consuming avarice. I’m reminded of a vivid passage from Shakespeare about the breakdown of social constraints on self-interest:

“Then everything includes itself in power;
Power into will, Will into appetite;
And Appetite, a universal Wolf,
So doubly seconded by Will and Power,
Must make perforce a universal prey,
And last eat up itself…”
