An interesting question. My favorite characterization of AI comes from another Medium writer (whose name I forget) who referred to it as a “stochastic parrot” void of intention beyond the tasks it is given by its users. (It is the users I am worried about, especially if they are clever and power-crazed narcissists like Elon Musk!)

As for the putative ET guys, I continue to doubt whether they (1) exist, (2) are close enough to reach us or even notice our existence, and (3) would bother traveling light years just for a snack, or a conversation.
