As usual, I agree entirely with your grim assessment of the present moment in my country. But please--not all Germans were Nazis, and not all Americans are Trumpies (or even "good Germans" in denial of what's happening!) So please back off on your tendency toward lumping us all under one stereotype. After all "American" is just a mental formation (like "English" or "German" or any other nationality)--it has no real-world existence. And every nationality, culture, and subculture has both a Cain and Abel side to it; that is, the capacity for primordial horror, and the capacity for transcendent beauty and wisdom. Trump is (unfortunately) "American"--but so was Martin Luther King, Jr.
