By this logic, native Americans would be entirely within their rights to drive European immigrants and our descendants off the lands we now occupy, since they were here many thousands of years before we were. So this ancestral “prior claim” is rubbish. Both the Jews and the Muslims claim that their own tribal deity—which they both conflate with the “one true god”—gave them perpetual title to the Levantine lands east of the Mediterranean. And both sides think THEY are the “chosen people” of God, and their enemies are God’s enemies who deserve only death. Such toxic monotheism has only one possible outcome: genocide.
