Hi, Lauren. I get your point--the seeming absence of outrage over Trump's blatantly fascist aspirations to be absolute ruler for life. But I'm not as worried as you are because I am willing to wager that Kamala will win by a landslide.

Why and how? Through the irresistable emotional power of innate charisma and pointed, well-timed ridicule on any electorate. The tables are now turned: Trump, not Biden, is now the "senile old man" in the race, while Kamala is the fresh, ebullient new face. That in itself is huge in a media saturated culture like ours where appearances are everything. Most people vote their gut feelings; they don't actually analyze anything. So when Kamala breaks into her spontaneous and appealing belly-laugh and calls Trump "weird"--it sticks to him like glue, becoming an instant meme that everyone else picks up. And ironically, while it is perfectly possible for any adept politician to push back against being labeled "corrupt" or "criminal" or "liar," there's no defense against "weird"! It's like the little girl in the Emperor's New Clothes. All she has to do to puncture the collective self-delusion of the populace is to say "The emperor has no clothes." Or "Trump is just WEIRD."
