His daughter, Mary Catherine Bateson, wrote an autobiographic account entitled "Angels Fear" which was an attempt, with commentary, to reconstruct the unfinished manuscript he left behind when he died, whose working title was "Where Angels Fear to Tread." And there was another biography of him that I read years ago, though I don't recall the author. He was married to, and collaborated with, Margaret Mead early in his career, though they divorced (but remained friends and colleagues) later.
