I agree, but such an approach requires a level of equanimity and emotional maturity that very few people can muster. Most of us have our trigger points, and can easily flare up into righteous indignation when someone says something we find offensive. At that point, we become part of the problem. This is why I have given up political bumper stickers. I don’t want people labeling me as “the enemy” (just as I am triggered when I see a pro-Trump lawn sign or bumper sticker). It takes strenuous emotional self-discipline to overcome such reactivity.
