I agree with you entirely on this, Richard. We are a nation--and in fact an entire global consumer culture--of spoiled brats, who are "spoiling" our entire biological support system in pursuit of short-term avarice and self-gratification.

Bob Dylan put it very well when he said "Most people don't do what they believe in; they just do what's most convenient, then they repent." And our day of reckoning, our day of repentance, is coming soon. But unfortunately, the worst of this reckoning--the complete collapse of our civilization and its biological support system--will fall hardest on those least responsible: the poor nations of the Global South, and our own grandchildren!
