I agree with your conclusion. Even if we did live in a giant simulation where everything is virtual, it would make no difference at all. We would still be bound by the rules of the game — the basis algorithms — just as we are now, whether those algorithms were “written” by God, a teenage geek, or a random, stochastic process of self-organization. (I.opt for the latter, but in truth I have no idea, any more than a simulated being in a video game — or even a character in a novel — can ever know aught of its creator!
