I am a lifelong secular humanist, but I do not call myself an atheist. Nor a "theist" for that matter. Unless one can come up with a consensual, evidence-backed definition of "God," all such claims--whether denial or affirmation of "God's" existence--are meaningless. And since there is no consensual definition of God, nor any evidence for God's existence or nonexistence, adhering to either position is balderdash. When someone asks me if I believe in God, my first response is a perfectly legitimate question: What do YOU mean by "God"?
