I do not like the Two-Party System and its current domination by corporate interests one bit more than you do, Lauren. But your advice is childish. Politics is, always has been, and always will be, the art of the possible. And while I would love nothing more than to see folks like AOC win elections throughout the country, it ain't gonna happen any time soon--certainly not in my lifetime nor yours. But you are overlooking the clear and present danger: Republicans, not Democrats, are working overtime to sabotage democracy by taking over state legislatures and election boards through strategic planning and lockstep ideological fanaticism, Democrats--for all their frustrating weaknesses, corruption, and lack of discipline, are still our last hedge against a catastrophic descent into fascism if Republicans regain control of Congress and/or the Presidency (as they already have of the Supreme Court). The problem is ancient, and is nicely summed up by W.B. Yeats when he says, "The best lack all conviction, while the worst/Are full of passionate intensity." But for crying out loud, the answer is not to abandon "the best" because they are not good enough for you! That's just stupid and childish.
