I don’t worship any idol — except critical thinking and reason. Politics is and always has been the art of the possible: when given a choice of any set of candidates for office, I vote for whoever, in my view, is most dedicated to serving the public interest. I may be proven wrong in this choice— I’m not infallible — but I know for a fact that democracy and honest dialogue is always better than tyranny and violence — free choice is better than no choice, and it is better to negotiate and compromise, if possible, than to blindly demonize everyone who does not share your ideology.
