I have nothing personally against Hillary. She’s smart as a whip. BUT you’re entirely right: she totally blew it in 2016 by ignoring the Midwestern states and thus confirming the general impression that she is an “elitist” contemptuous of the working class. Which played right into Trump’s toxic charisma and demagoguery. So politically, she’s toast, and I hope the Dem establishment has the good sense to recognize this. Besides, we desperately need new faces in this hideous electoral media circus. Gavin Newsom seems a likely prospect; he has faced appalling challenges in California with grace and determination. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed…
