I shared entirely your sinking feeling, the kick-in-the-gut feeling, when this callow young judge made her appalling ruling on behalf of her patron. It was easily the most blatant and egregious miscarriage of justice since Bush v. Gore or the Dred Scott decision.
I am not superstitious, but if I were, I’d be utterly convinced that Trump is the Devil Incarnate, or in Jungian terms, the archetypal embodiment of our collective Shadow—our collective bad karma personified. Like Iago, his malignancy and deviousness is bottomless and he corrupts everyone he touches. When he’s finally cornered (as I still ardently hope will happen some day soon) I can imagine him saying (with Iago and other primordial Devil-figures) “Demand me nothing. What you know you know. From this time forth I will never speak word more.”
