I would love to see such ideas widely implemented, but like the innovative Precautionary Principle, they seem doomed to wishful thinking. The main reason is that the essential production rules for any complex adaptive system based on the zero-sum logic of money (“more is always better” and “what’s mine is not yours”) is fundamentally incompatible with a finite biosphere based on diametrically opposed production rules: optimization rather than maximization (“enough is enough”) and symbiosis (sharing and recycling of finite resources).
