If you read Anne Applebaum's latest piece in Atlantic, you will see that his all-out attack on the Civil Service as a whole is well underway, destroying the careers of thousands of decent, honest, and knowledgeable civil servants who have devoted their lives to protecting the public interest, and thereby endangering the lives of millions, both here and overseas. And this is only the beginning. I fear we are spiraling down into a very dark vortex of oligarchic, kleptocratic tyranny on a par with the worst of the strong men we've seen in the past century. Welcome to the Former United States of America!

So what can we do? Dig in for the long game. Form small circles of trusted friends to study and practice Satyagraha--nonviolent resistance to evil, speaking truth to power, and cultivating community and solidarity--mindfully, strategically, and relentlessly.
