I'm all for the Steady State Economy model spawned by Herman Daly and continued today by CASSE. However, nothing fundamental ever can change from the top down: that is, creating a new economic paradigm and then expecting policymakers and corporations to embrace it, when it goes completely against their entrenched vested interests in the "endless growth" paradigm. All is not lost, however (maybe). The alternative is to start from the ground up, in modular fashion, by organizing our immediate neighbors to grow gardens, grow community, and grow awareness. Only this approach can coexist with the total collapse of our global market economy (which is now inevitable).
