Military coup? No way! In every instance I know where a military leader takes it upon himself to save the country from an elected dictator, the outcome has been even worse than the original problem. Once given absolute, unelected power, military officers are not ever inclined to step aside for free elections. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Besides, the military itself--as a volunteer military, which collects many of its recruits from low-educated working class youth with no other future prospects--has created a subculture infested with Trumpies and other right-wing, gun-loving fanatics, who worship raw power and will blindly follow orders. Not a safe bet if we wish to restore democracy!
