Naturally, I applaud your declaration, and I hope you succeed. But a few decades back, an international group of activists and civic leaders crafted an elegant Earth Charter with UN support, which I enthusiastically introduced to my students. Translated into myriad languages, it was circulated around the world, along with a website and a host of educational and discussion materials. And you know what? The vast majority of us have never heard of the Earth Charter, because the global mass media never mentioned it. This is the way they strangle promising ideas in the womb, before they ever see the light. But good luck anyway.
