Once again, Umair, your analysis of our hopeless plight is spot on. But I wish you could let go of your reflexive anti-American prejudice.

“America,” after all, is just a mental formation (like “China” or “Europe”). There is no substance underlying these tribal concepts, and singling out any one of them for abuse is just plain stupid and offensive. The problem (as you clearly delineate) is not “America” but the entire money-driven global market economy, which must expand its production and consumption of commodities to survive. Yet our biological support system, the Earth, is not getting any bigger. So money is the cancer of the Earth, and that cancer is now terminal.
