Ordinarily, this precipitous decline in birth rates would be alarming. But these are not ordinary times. With the grim reality of global overshoot and collapse due to climate disruption and depletion of vital resources, coupled with population and consumption growth, it is better by far for a child to be unconceived and unborn than to grow up in a dying civilization on a ruined planet and meet an early death from violence or starvation.
