Spiritual practice is not a political program. As Gandhi and King, Mandela and Havel, the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh, and Wangari Maathai all well knew, it is a prerequisite to truly effective resistance against war and tyranny: resistance without hatred, or Satyagraha.
