Thank y0ou for sharing this inspiring wake-up call from this gifted indigenous artist. We ALL need to recognize that we inhabit--and depend on--two antithetical complex adaptive systems--Glomart and Gaia--for our lives these days. Glomart (short for "Global Market Economy--the money-based system) is the world we made; Gaia (the biosphere) is the world that made us.

But there is one huge problem: Glomart is a cancer on Gaia, due to the incompatibility of a system based on the maximization of production and consumption (and therefore of wealth concentration and pollution) on one hand (Glomart), and on the other, the optimization of life and its regeneration (Gaia).

Cancer has only two possible outcomes: death (systemic collapse) or Spontaneous Remission. So our common challenge, since we inhabit both Gaia (our life-support system) and Glomart (our money-based economy) is to find effective ways to become agents of the Spontaneous Remission of the Cancer of the Earth. And for me, the key to this is Permaculture: an ecocentric system of designing human habitation based on the three moral imperatives of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share.
