Thank you for sharing this insight into the Tao--into the notion, largely absent from Western thought, of codependent origination or "the mutual arising of opposites." One way of expressing this is a syllogism I came up with quite a few years ago. It goes like this:

1. "Strength lies in attack, not in defense." --Adolf Hitler.

2. HOWEVER, "Force is followed by loss of strength." --Lao Tzu

3. THEREFORE, "The meek shall inherit the Earth." --Jesus.

Ironically, all of these statements are true--but in different time frames. Any street fighter or soldier will tell you that in the heat of battle, or in any urgent moment of combat, the advantage usually goes to the aggressor; in this respect, Hitler (and his body-double, Trump) was absolutely right.

HOWEVER, in the longer term, Lao Tzu had it right that "Force is followed by loss of strength." This is the law of entropy, pure and simple--the most recent and obvious instance being the collapse of our long and futile effort to impose a Western-style democracy on Afghanistan.

Finally, in the light of eternity, we arrive at the insight of Jesus--"The meek shall inherit the Earth." The word "meek" however, does not mean weak or cowardly (as it often is taken today); it is a translation, in 17th Century English, of a Greek word praos which means something more like "gentle and accommodating." I'm sure that Lao Tzu, Gandhi, and all the other great Bodhisattvas would agree!

(I also could not help but notice the narrow, squinching, hostile expression in Trump's eyes, vs the openness and gentleness in Obama;s eyes, in the photo compasrison you included. You can tell a lot about character, disposition, and emotional states from looking at peoples' eyes!)
