Thank you for sharing this lucid, precisely reasoned assessment of our predicament. This leaves us all with only four options—only one of which is adaptive: denial, delusion, despair, or…what? Call it determination, if you will. Determination, that is, to grow gardens, grow community, and grow awareness, wherever we are, and however we can, by learning, teaching, healing, and creating. We may all be doomed anyway—but at least we can do all we can, starting today, to promote the health, competence, and resilience of ourselves, our communities, and—to the extent possible—our living but broken planet Gaia. To paraphrase Thich Nhat Hanh, “There is no way to permaculture; permaculture is the way.”
