Thank you for sharing this urgency. But please stop blaming the “boomers”! It is not our fault that we were born into the fossil fuel-driven postwar expansion of economic “growth” and unprecedented affluence of the fruition phase of the Industrial Revolution! And as any gardener knows, fruition is always followed by wilting and collapse (which is where we are now). Remember also that the global environmental movement was launched by my (boomer) generation in 1970, when we reached early adulthood. And within a decade, this had evolved into “deep ecology” or Gaian consciousness, questioning the very presuppositions of the industrial/capitalist paradigm of endless growth of production and consumption in a finite world. And widespread public awareness of the climate crisis was catalyzed by my fellow boomers like Al Gore.
To be sure, there were many deluded assholes in my generation as well (e.g. GW Bush, and of course Trump)—but the same is true of every other generation as well…
