Thank you for sharing your insights into the day-to-day and moment-to-moment reality of subtle oppression and degradation that men of African descent must endure from a dominant culture whose own sense of collective identity has historically depended on devaluing you as a despised "other." (See Tony Morrison's "Playing in the Dark" essay for a superb analysis of this social construction of "whiteness" in America).

Your lived experience of such reflexive degradation is something no "white guy" like myself can ever understand first-hand, and I would never presume to give you any advice in how to deal with it. But please know that I empathize, and I will continue to try my best to see things through your eyes.
