The other thing nobody is talking about is how much energy these AI systems and their development will suck up from our already dwindling supply of fossil fuels and raw materials--especially the rare-earth materials that must be mined and transported from faraway, politically unstable places. And what happens if the electrical grid fails, whether due to sabotage, prolonged drought (for hydro systems), nuclear meltdowns from earthquakes, or an unusually large solar flare? All this fancy, meticulously programmed and trained hardware will be nothing more than inert metal and plastic junk!
