Thank you for this lovely piece. I agree with you entirely, even though I am a Buddhist, rather than a Christian. But I have long since learned that, as Heraclitus said, “That which is wise is One; it is both willing and unwilling to be called by the name of [fill in the blank—“God,” “Jesus” “Allah” “JHVH” “Krishna” “the Buddha”—whatever!]
Unfortunately, our money-based consumer society is constantly brainwashing us with the exact opposite message: more is always better, and enough is never enough. So it is very helpful to use prayer or meditation (whatever works best for us) to let go of all that and remember that we have enough, right now, if we are alive and well, secure, and both loving and loved, and—above all, patient and kind.
