Thank you for your brutal honesty, Laura. From the start in 2001, I knew Afghanistan would be another Vietnam — another bloody farce — and you have confirmed my suspicions. When will we ever learn — that no country loves its invaders, especially if they are from a completely alien culture with a religion that demonizes yours (and vice versatile), and whose real agenda is control of your pipelines. And that the local resistance to such invaders will always win in the long run, even as they themselves become more cruel, fanatical, and heartless — as a direct result of relentless warfare. Did we really think this would be any different??
