The problem with focusing on population growth is that it ignores a few basic facts: first, no couple anywhere can be coerced, successfully, into not having babies if they want them (and often, whether they want them or not!). Second, you are completely ignoring the fact that our ecological footprint consists of population x per capita consumption. And the latter rises enormously with income levels. So rather than pointing the finger at "too many people out there" try reversing the finger toward yourself, and saying "too much stuff per person."
