There is an old saying:”Civilization begins with a vision and ends in a bureaucracy.”

We are there: the self-serving bureaucracy we have built, leading to the synthesis of government and corporate power that runs on the “hardware” of fossil fuels and the industrial infrastructure and electric grid they sustain—and the “software” of money (the operating system) and all its proliferating “apps” (mass media, the Internet, advertising, etc)—have created a consumer culture, based on the infinite expansion of production and consumption, based on a zero-sum money game. This vast endlessly growing complex (mal-)adaptive system is fundamentally incompatible with our biological support system, the finite living Earth. And so it MUST collapse. Those who wish to survive the coming collapse and mass die-off must start immediately with the challenge of relocalization: growing gardens, growing community, growing awareness.
