This is an insightful assessment of the looming specter of fossil fuel depletion in Europe, the Americas, and everywhere else. But you strangely overlook the other horseman of the apocalypse in all of this: the accelerating heating of our atmosphere from fossil fuel burning throughout the world, which could wipe out our food and water supplies long before our oil, coal, and natural gas supplies are depleted. Endless growth of production, consumption, and population is incompatible with a finite planet, and ecological overshoot always leads to catastrophic collapse. Welcome to the future.
