This is by far your most important take-away point. The only capital that doesn’t depreciate is positive-sum capital, which means “capital” that grows, the more it is shared with others. Money, however, is zero sum: for you to get it, I must lose it (and vice versa). Positive sum forms of capital include biological capital, social capital, experiential capital, cultural capital, and spiritual capital. These can be optimized by cultivating an ethos of growing gardens, growing community, and growing awareness—by learning, teaching, healing, creating. We must do all we can to emancipate ourselves and others from mental slavery to money and the toxic ideology of endless “growth” on a finite planet!
