Thank you, David, for this beautiful, heart-wrenchingly truthful essay. I am trying to launch an initiative that I hope (perhaps vainly) will someday go viral: to organize neighborhoods into largely autonomous "Garden Guilds" where neighbors within walking or bicycling distance gather periodically to share meals, learn useful gardening skills, and host reciprocal work parties where they can collectively accomplish tasks beyond their personal skill, income, or strength. The slogan--and agenda--of my Garden Guild initiative is as follows:

"GROW GARDENS, GROW COMMUNITY, GROW AWARENESS" by Learning, Teaching, Healing, and Creating. The ultimate goal is to create seeds of Gaian (i.e. ecocentric) regeneration within the crumbling ruins of our global market economy. I also have a monthly interview program on an independent radio station here where I live, on topics related to the climate crisis, and I would love to interview you for it.
