Trump is a weasel, no doubt, when it comes to slithering out of liabilities, but when he rallied his armed, moronic acolytes at the Capital, telling them to “fight like Hell,” he was neither acting in his legitimate role as president nor as a candidate, since the election was over and all votes had been counted and certified. He was, in fact acting in direct violation of his presidential duties by goading the mob to disrupt an official, constitutionally mandated joint session of Congress for affirming the certification of the election. There’s also a legal term for this as well: treason, with severe penalties, up to and including the Death Penalty.
