Well said! Thank you for sharing this revisit of the ancient, useful concept of Acedia. In my own life, I have come up with a guided meditation technique that is useful (for me, at least) as an antidote to acedia. It consists of contemplating, then practicing, then vowing to continue ten simple injunctions in three sets, each pertaining to reclaiming the moment, the day, and our lives. Here it is. (feel free to improvise, as you wish): On ten breaths, inwardly recite and contemplate the following injunctions:

1. (Reclaiming the moment): Breathe, Observe, Let Go.

2. (Reclaiming the day) Be well, Do good work, Keep in touch (with gratitude to Garrison Keillor, who came up with this as a sign-off)

3. Reclaiming our lives: Learn, Teach, Heal, Create.
