Well, yes — in principle I agree. But it could be that Biden and Pelosi are playing the long game, as both are veteran legislators with long experience in Congress. It’s possible (and I am not sure of this) that pretending that Republicans can be reasonable is a strategic choice — daring them to prove their intransigence beyond all doubt before the midterm elections. If this is their strategy, I hope it works!
