What do you mean by “we”? None of us, individually or collectively, has the power to mandate such massive, globe-spanning projects, which would require fossil fuel companies and all the other corporations that depend on them for cheap net energy to voluntarily abandon their profits, lay off thousands of their employees, and torpedo the investments of their shareholders. So all of this is just idle chatter.
Collectively, we are doomed to incremental and accelerating collapse and die-off that has already started worldwide. Individually, we still have choices—for now. Like growing gardens, growing community, and growing awareness—to relocalize our economies as much as possible, decoupling ourselves incrementally from the money game—the global market economy— and instead increasing our individual and communal resilience by learning, teaching, healing, and creating.
