You are entirely right, I fear. Given what we know is happening, optimism is delusional. This leaves us only a few choices: suicide, “carpe diem” indifference to the suffering caused by our greed and denial, or doing what we know is right, regardless of consequences and regardless of ultimate futility. I choose the latter: both adapting to and mitigating the damage by growing gardens, growing community, and growing awareness.
